About Indochina Adventure Tours
We plan and run private active trips in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, built around one idea: you should know how hard each day is before you book it.
What we do
Indochina Adventure Tours plans private trips that combine cycling, sea and river kayaking, show caves, short walks and motorbike rides with a local driver. We work in four regions: Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba, Phong Nha-Ke Bang, the Mekong Delta, and the Bolaven Plateau with the 4000 Islands, plus Angkor at the end of the river route.
Every trip is private, on the dates you choose, for parties of up to twelve. There is a guide who rides or paddles with you, a support vehicle on every riding day, and a written daily plan with distance, climbing and hours of activity.
How we work, as mechanisms rather than promises
Grades with numbers
Each tour is graded on our four-step scale, using its two hardest days and three numbers per day.
A van on every ride
Anyone can stop riding at any point. The van also takes the sections we will not ride.
A weather day
Tours of five days or more keep one day loose for storms, floods and closed caves.
Quotes with lines
Every quote shows its cost lines and passes third-party tickets through at the published price.
Sources for facts
Seasons, ticket prices and crossings on this site come from named sources with the date we checked them.
Written answers
Planning is done by email, so every answer is on record.
What we do not do well
- Large groups. Above twelve people, vans, boats and cave queues make the day slow and harder to manage. We do not take larger parties.
- Hard training camps. None of our base programmes reaches Grade 4. If you want a week of 100 km days, a specialist road-cycling company will serve you better.
- Multi-day trekking. Our walks are short and sit between other activities. We do not run village-to-village treks.
- Self-ride motorbike tours and 4x4 expeditions. We offer pillion motorbike days only, and no off-road vehicle trips.
- Luxury-led travel. We pick hotels for location and a good night's sleep after a ride. In some places, the Bolaven Plateau and Don Det among them, the choice is simple guesthouses.
Why there are no reviews on this site
We do not publish customer reviews or testimonials here. A page of quotations chosen by the company that benefits from them tells you little, and we would rather you judge us by what can be checked: the numbers on each tour page, the sources on each fact, and the quote you receive.
If something on a tour page is unclear, ask in your enquiry: we answer in writing before you commit to anything.
What we will not do
- Sell places on Son Doong or other expedition caves. Those are run by specialist licensed operators.
- Route rides through shops that pay commission.
- Publish a from price that only the largest party at the lowest hotel level would pay.
- Promise wildlife sightings, weather or empty sites.
Company details
Company registration details, office address and telephone numbers are not published on this site for now. Booking terms, payment instructions and our privacy policy are linked at the foot of every page, and the written quote you receive names the contracting party.
To start planning, use the form on the contact page or at the foot of any page. Before that, the pricing page and the safety page answer the questions most people ask first.
Common questions
Questions travellers ask most
Are you a tour operator or a booking site?
A tour operator. We plan the route, set the grade, and run the trip with our guides, drivers and boat crews. We do not resell other companies' tours.
Who will guide us?
An English-speaking guide who rides or paddles with you. In Cambodia a separate Cambodian guide team takes over at the border. Your final itinerary names the guide.
Can you build a route that is not on the site?
Yes, within the four regions and Angkor. Outside them we will say plainly if we are not the right people.
Why is there no phone number on the site?
Enquiries are handled in writing through the form for now. Once you travel, your guide is your contact on the ground.

Tell us about the trip you have in mind
Dates, party size and the grade you are comfortable with are enough to start. You get a draft route with daily distances and a quote for that route, not a brochure.
